These are the divisions within the Taolu (forms) competition

We encourage all competitors to pre-register as it will save you money, prevent delays on the day of the event and could even get your Shifu a free night saty at the hotel (10 or more pre-registered).

Traditional Kung-Fu Taolu (Forms)  Youth competitor

Minimum ring size: 20'x20'

NOTES:

For all events:  

  • Beginner (BEG) competitors are considered practitioners with less than one and a half (1 1/2) years of total martial arts training.
  • Intermidiate (INT) competitors are considered practitioners with more than one and a half (1 1/2)  years of training and less than three (3) years of total martial arts training.
  • Advanced (ADV) competitors are considered practitioners with more than three (3) years of total martial arts training.
  • Events that are only divided into BEG or ADV is divided as follows: BEG less than two years ADV two or more years.
  • All other events with no experience division are considered ALL LEVELS events
  • Competitor age and experience level is based on the age at the time of competition.
  • Competitors MUST compete in the same age/experience level for ALL events entered. Example - if you have 3.5 years of training and compete in advanced forms, and want to compete in other events, you will only be able to compete in advanced divisions.
  • Competitors MUST compete with a different form in each event entered.

For traditional weapon events:

  • Beginner weapons will be confined to the basic four weapons (i.e. Staff, Spear,  Single Broadsword and Single Straightsword) only, no double weapons or double-handed weapons.
  • Long Weapons will consist of Staff and Spear only.
  • Short Weapons will consist of Broadsword (single) and Straightsword (single) only.
  • Open Weapons will consist of all other Chinese martial arts weapons with the exclusion of the basic four weapons (i.e. Staff, Spear, Single Broadsword and Single Straightsword), double-handed broadsword and double-handed straightsword would be part of the Open Weapon division.
  • Contemporary Wushu weapons (highly flexible and light blades also extremely thin staffs or spears) will not be accepted for competition in the traditional weapons and two-person events. They will only be accepted in the Jing Ji Wushu (Contemporary) divisions.

Additional notes:

  • The tournament committee reserves the right to combine or divide categories at any time without prior notice.
  • Ring sizes and surfaces are not guranteed and the tournament committee reserves the right to move divisions to different rings to accomodate the competition.
